2025 ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
It's been another eventful year for the Parish Council, working for the benefit of the community.
New Play Area
The year was crowned by the opening of the new 'all ability' play area on Honeyholes lane, the whole project having been undertaken by Councillors Forrester and Keetley.
Cllr. Forrester, following discussions with the staff and pupils of St Chad’s Primary School and other interested groups, grandparents, carers etc., compiled a comprehensive survey to establish the type of play equipment which would meet special needs for all ages and abilities. To see some of the comments made by the youngsters regarding the equipment they did or did not like was heartwarming, and it also proved the value of the survey. The result is what we see today. The commitment to the project by both councillors cannot be underestimated.
There are plans for a sensory garden next to the play area.
Christmas Celebration
Once again, we had a beautiful Christmas tree on Mainwaring Close; it’s the perfect place in the village for everyone to see and appreciate the lights over the festive season. Many thanks to Pete Forman and Charlie Pickering for their assistance in putting up the tree and thank you to all who attended the lighting ceremony.
The “Christmas Market” has established itself as a go-to annual event in the village hall and is always well supported by residents and visitors. We must not forget the folks who helped Cllr Keetley make it a success. Also, thanks to the stall holders for their continuing support.
Once again, the Village Hall & Indoor Bowls buildings were decorated with Christmas lights. The tree outside the village hall was also lit up, adding to the festive spirit.
Village Grass Cutting
Following positive feedback from residents and councillors alike regarding the quality of the grass cutting around the village, the Parish Council have agreed to re-new the contract with Future Farming Ltd for another 12 months.
Dunholme Village Hall & Indoor Bowls Club
New “Venue” (Social Hub)
Following the successful reveal of the plans for the Village Hall & Indoor Bowls last year, the Parish Council applied successfully to West Lindsey District Council for funding to finance the initial stages of the project. This covers: Site Survey, Planning Permission, Building Regulation, Quantity Surveyor Asbestos Survey.
It is expected that our planning application will be submitted next week. The next stage will be establishing the cost of the project.
Cosy Corner
The Cosy Corner is open between 11 am until 3 pm Mondays, except for Bank Holidays.
It is a drop-in for tea, coffee biscuits (free), a chat, meet friends, board games; just a place to relax.
A special thanks to the Co-op and Bridge for their support.
New Community Amenity Space
The Parish Council propose to purchase approximately 3 acres of land off Market Rasen Road (adjacent to the Pinfold) to create a new community open space. It is proposed to utilise the land for allotments, for provision of an outdoor bicycle track for young people and children and also create a scenic walk alongside Dunholme beck. Further updates will be available in the near future.
Environmental & Sustainability Policies
The Parish Council are now in the process of introducing a comprehensive policy statement (Cllr. Guest).
New Parish Council Web Page
Thanks to Cllr. Guest for the many hours of work put into migrating all the data and information onto our new site.
Lastly,
Three new high-quality seats were fitted, one opposite the hairdresser and two near the Co-op, beside the beck.
